About This Project

In 2019
Stef was asked to turn an historic building on the Singel in the center of
Amsterdam into a boutique hotel, that combined the charm of the old with the
comfort of now. After an intensive search of the history of the building, Stef
created the concept of The Craftsmen, since there were many craftsmen living in
this building since 1651. Each room represents a Dutch craft: the Artist, the
Boatbuilder, the Clockmaker, the Woodworker, the Blacksmith, the Tanner, the
Brewer, the Bookbinder, the Instrument maker, the Miller, the Airplane builder,
the Shoemaker, the Cartographer and the Bike builder. Each room is unique and
made from antique instruments, tools and artworks around the room theme. The
Craftsmen has been selected for the best new boutique hotels in the Netherlands
by Entrée Awards and has one of the highest ratings on Booking.com and
Tripadvisor.
